Nota d'usoI verbi to seek e to look for significano entrambi “cercare”, ma vengono usati in contesti diversi. To look for è utilizzato largamente in contesti colloquiali ed esprime il significato di “cercare per trovare”: I'm looking for my keys, sto cercando le mie chiavi. To seek, invece, appartiene ad un registro più elevato, si incontra più frequentemente nello scritto e possiede anche il significato più forte di “cercare di ottenere”, “andare alla ricerca di”: They were seeking happiness, cercavano la felicità. -
